Cultural Exchange Program

文化交流プログラム

Oya No Kai. Inc. oversees three student cultural exchanges to Japan. These opportunities are made possible by a combination of fund raising, planning, and hard work by parents, students, teachers, and friends in Japan. These exchanges are meant to be unique, meaningful learning experiences and provide authentic situations in which students use what they have learned in school. When students use their Japanese language skills, participate in home stays, attend Japanese schools, and immerse themselves in the Japanese culture, they become people who are more confident, independent, and part of our global society.

Please note: None of the outbound or inbound cultural exchanges are funded by Portland Public Schools. All outbound cultural exchanges are the financial responsibility of the student and their family. Scholarships and grants are made available through Oya No Kai, Inc.

For general questions regarding cultural exchanges, please contact Oya No Kai’s Cultural Exchange Coordinator, Yoko Niki-Breyfogle at ynbreyfogle@gmail.com.
