New intern coordinator: Haruka Takanuma

New intern coordinator: Haruka Takanuma

We are excited to introduce our new intern coordinator, Haruka Takanuma! Families may recognize her as our Kurabu summer camp coordinator and a Richmond parent, and we are now thrilled to be working with her throughout the year. As intern coordinator, Haruka will help Oya No Kai recruit, train, and support our amazing interns at Richmond, Mt. Tabor, and Grant. She’ll also work with the Hospitality Committee to organize events and activities for interns and their host families.

Haruka says:

I am Haruka Takanuma, the new intern coordinator. I am from Tokyo, Japan and have been living in Oregon for 18 years. I am a former preschool teacher and currently teaching Japanese to young kids for the afterschool programs. I have 2 daughters in the JDLI program: a 4th grader and a kindergartener at Richmond. In the past few years, I have been closely involved in the program as a parent, Richmond PTA, and a Kurabu director. Now I am excited to be in this role to be able to support interns who are one of the essential parts of the program.
