Kurabu Summer Camp

Oya No Kai is disappointed to announce that Kurabu, our summer camp run in partnership with SUN Schools, must be cancelled for summer 2020.  As you know, our wonderful interns are an integral part of Kurabu, and we unfortunately will not be welcoming new interns to our community until August 2020. In addition, our partner SUN Schools does not have confirmation that use of PPS buildings will be permitted during the summer. For these reasons, in consultation with SUN Schools and PPS, we have decided that 2020 Kurabu cannot occur this summer.

Refunds for camp will be issued in full, and all refunds will be issued via the credit card or paypal account that was used when your camp reservation was made. We will be making refunds electronically this week. Please feel free to reach out to treasurer@oyanokai.org if you have any questions.

Oya No Kai knows that for many families, Kurabu is the link that keeps students connected to Japanese language learning during the summer.  With the cancellation of camp, we want to encourage families to continue with the language learning so that students are confident when returning to school in the fall.  To that end, we are currently working on collecting Japanese learning resources for a searchable database for our community. We are also compiling a database of paid and volunteer Japanese tutors available for students now and during the summer.  Please look for forthcoming emails later this week with more information.

We are so very disappointed to cancel Kurabu 2020, but we thank you for your understanding and all you are doing to support your student’s Japanese language learning at this challenging time.
